Legacy of an Ancient King (Part One)

The Legacy of an Ancient King
(Part One)

It's hard to believe that I didn't post a blog in 2018. It isn't that I had nothing to say. I suppose it is because, for most of the year, I did not have the wherewithal to say it. I don't know whether or not  I have a "second wind," but find myself unable to be silent about events unfolding in our country that I am convinced will (soon) play a significant role in our nation's future.

To get us started, you MUST read this story of and ancient king who ruled relatively close to the time of Judah's destruction some 130 years after Israel fell to the Assyrians. Not too much is ever said about the connection of this ancient king to America today, but, I believe there is a connection. Please read the story or what I say will make no sense whatsoever! This story is the backdrop for this post. The story is found in two places in the Old Testament of the Bible. Here are the references:

2 Kings 21:1-18 and 2 Chronicles 33:1 - 20

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU WATCHED AS FIFTY OF THE
LARGEST CITIES IN AMERICA WERE BEING  DESTROYED?

As of this post, two American states have either passed laws that allow for third trimester abortions ("...far past the stages at which fetuses can survive after birth," The Atlantic, Feb. 4, 2019) or, considering them. Right to Life, Pro - Life, and Pro Choice advocates have, since 1973, heard the stats that regularly inform us of the numbers of babies aborted at various stages of their lives. Depending on what "stat" one believes there have been between 49 and 54 million abortions performed since 1973. I catch those stats often enough due to the reporting of one news agency or another. As chilling as it is, I think that perhaps human nature impedes our ability to translate "statistics" into stark reality. If we have no one close to us who has had an abortion, sometimes news of the numbers far too often makes no impact.  I am often numb to the statistical numbers..Are you?

I have made a list of America's fifty largest cities. (The list came from moving.com. The population figures in some cases have been rounded and/or estimated. They are, however, accurate enough to add up to just over forty - eight million people.) Peruse the list...

Do you live in one of those cities? Have you lived in one? Do you know someone who lives in one of them now?

What if, suddenly, a nuclear or biological attack came to the U.S. and wiped out the populations of the cities I've listed below....

What would be our response? What would be your response?

The populations of the fifty largest cities in our country are roughly equal to the number of babies who have died by abortion since 1973.

Statistics do not impact us so much...numbers do.
